Nacha joined CTE’s Blended Learning team in August 2014 and takes care of the Blended Learning Programme. She facilitates workshops on Blended Learning for faculty, and provides consultations on redesigning face-to-face courses to a blended learning format and evaluating the effectiveness of the implemented blended courses. She is also responsible for the university-wide Emergency Preparedness Programme (For Teaching and Learning) and is involved in working closely with various departments and schools in strategizing and implementing appropriate measures. In addition, she is involved in organizing an annual, national level Technology-enhanced Learning Conference for higher education institutions in Singapore. Nacha’s research interest is on technology integrated, student-centered teaching pedagogies such as project/problem/team-based learning and flipped classrooms.

Nacha has 15 years of experience in higher education institutions, in particular on faculty professional development and curriculum development. She is also an experienced facilitator and has taught subjects like Cognitive Processes and Problem Solving and Critical Thinking at tertiary level. She holds a PhD in Educational Psychology from Erasmus University, The Netherlands. Prior to joining SMU, she was a Visiting International Scholar at University of Sao Paulo, Brazil and before that she was a Lecturer at the Teaching and Learning Centre, UniSIM, Singapore.

Inspiring cultural change across faculties to support them in implementing pedagogical shifts to blended learning is not an easy task. A mix of both top-down envisioning and support, and innovative teaching approaches ground-up are necessary to bring about effective changes.
